Sunday afternoons: March 10, 17, 24, and 31, 2019

Courses Offered:

 

Basic Lay Servant Training

This basic course is the first course that must be completed by each Lay Servant. This 4-week course serves as the prerequisite for all Advanced Level Lay Servant courses.

Instructors: Pete Ross and Patricia Withrow

This course is foundational for all courses in lay servant ministries. Participants are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended and to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders, remaining rooted in consistent spiritual practices, and being part of a group that holds members accountable in their discipleship.

 

Putting Together a Meaningful Sermon

** This is an advanced course. Prerequisite: Basic Lay Servant Class ** 

Instructor: Rev. Teresa Blanton

Course material is based on the books "A Sermon Workbook", "Imagining a Sermon", and "Connecting with the Congregation".

 

Lay Servants as Christian Transformational Leaders

** This is an advanced course. Prerequisite: Basic Lay Servant Class ** 

Instructors: Dick Strachan and Jesse Caldwell

This course will guide lay servants seeking to be more empowered to lead their congregations toward vitality.

 

Leading & Planning Worship 

** This is an advanced course. Prerequisite: Basic Lay Servant Class ** 

Instructor: Rev. Juston Smith

This course focuses on the ministry of the lay servant who either regularly or occasionally leads a group or congregation in worship, and it is grounded in the principles and practices of worship planning.
